G-Blogs is the hip and cool mobile blogging service of myGlobe. Like other popular blogging services in the Internet today, G-Blogs gives its myGlobe subscribers their free personal web space to publish their thoughts and post pictures. What’s nice about G-Blogs is that it is not only accessible via Web, it is also accessible through your Handyphone. You can now blog using WAP, SMS/MMS.
2. How can I access the G-Blogs site?
There are two ways to access G-Blogs from the WEB.
A. Through the myGlobe Website (www.myglobe.com.ph). Just login to myGlobe, click on G-Blogs from the Tools drop down menu found at the masthead.
B. Through the G-Blogs Website (www.g-blogs.com). Login to the site using your myGlobe username and password. If you’re not yet a myGlobe member, click on the "Create One Now" button to register to G-Blogs. Once registered to G-Blogs, you are automatically registered to myGlobe.
To access the G-Blogs WAP site, bookmark www.g-blogs.com from your phone or click on the G-Blogs link from the myGlobe WAP site.
3. What is the difference between a G-Blog owner and a visitor?
A G-BLOG OWNER is a Globe Handyphone subscriber who is a member of myGlobe and who created a blog site in G-Blogs. As an owner, he/she can update his/her G-Blog site through the web or through the mobile phone. A G-Blog owner can also be a visitor and thus, read through other G-Blog sites, download their content, post comments, chat with other G-Blog owners, etc.
A VISITOR on the other hand doesn’t necessarily need to be a Handyphone subscriber or a G-Blog owner. Anyone can be a G-Blog visitor and read through publicly accessible G-Blog sites. However, a visitor that has a myGlobe account can log in to G-Blogs with their username and password and has the opportunity to download entries, post comments, and view additional pages only available to logged in users.
4. How can I create a G-Blog account?
Before you can own a G-Blog account, you must be a member of the myGlobe Website first. Initially, we asked Globe Handyphone subscribers to register to myGlobe (www.myglobe.com.ph) first before creating an account in the G-Blogs Web site. Since this process became a hindrance for most of our subscribers to own a blog account, we added a new feature so that registration to the service can be done simply by texting. There are three ways:
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you opt to create your G-Blog this way, your Handyphone number AUTOMATICALLY becomes your G-Blogs URL (example: www.g-blogs.com/09171234567) and your Name. This means that when other people view your G-Blog’s account via Web, they will see your Handyphone number from the URL field of your browser and when they view your name from the “ABOUT ME” page. You can change your Blog URL from a handyphone format in the Edit Profile section within your own G-Blogs. But if you immediately want to specify a G-Blog URL, you can register using option A or B mentioned earlier.
5. If I register using my mobile phone how much will I be charged?
If you register using options A and B or by sending an SMS, you will be charged P2.50 for every successful enrollment. But if you send an MMS to register, you will be charged P5.00 for every successful registration.
6. If I register using my mobile phone how do I access the G-Blogs Website?
If you created a G-Blog account through your mobile phone, you can still access the G-Blogs Website (www.g-blogs.com) by providing your username and password. By default, your Handyphone number (ex. 09171234567) will be your username while your password will be system generated, sent to you over SMS.
When you login to G-Blogs Web for the first time without any prior registration, you will be prompted to complete your G-Blogs registration before you can create more blog entries.
Aside from being able to access G-Blogs Web, you will also be automatically enrolled in myGlobe. This means you can login to the myGlobe Website by using the same username and password.
7. If I register using my mobile phone, what will be my default G-Blog profile?
If you created a G-Blog account through SMS/MMS and you did not provide details for your profile, the system will assign to you default settings which are:
| PARAMETERS | PARAMETERS |
|---|---|
| G-Blog URL | Handyphone number |
| G-Blog Name | Untitled |
| G-Blog Description | No description |
| G-Blog URL | Handyphone number |
| Owner's Name | Handyphone number |
| Template | Default Template |
| Blog Status | Public |
8. What do I do to change my G-Blogs settings?
You can only edit your G-Blogs settings through the G-Blogs Web Site from the Edit Profile section.
No. As a pre-requisite to G-Blogs, you must be a myGlobe member. Whether you register to myGlobe through the Web or register to G-Blogs/myGlobe through your phone, you will not be allowed to change your username. Your username is permanent.
10. What if I lost my password sent through SMS?
If you accidentally lost your password, you need to call the Globe hotline at 730-1000 to request for a password reset. Just provide your mobile number and a new password will be sent to you through text. Use this new password to login the G-Blogs Web or myGlobe Web.
11. The temporary password sent to me is hard to remember. Can I edit it?
To change your password, you need to login to G-Blogs. Click on the Edit Profile link and then look for the EDIT PASSWORD button to change your password. You will be asked to provide your old password before your preferred password can be created.
12. I’m an existing myGlobe user and I would like to create a G-Blog but I forgot my myGlobe password. How do I retrieve my password?
Just click on the “Forgot Password” link found on the homepage of G-Blogs (or myGlobe). You need to provide the correct answer to the “ASK ME A QUESTION” challenge before your new password will be sent to your email or Handyphone.
13. If I register using my mobile phone how do I access G-Blogs WAP?
You can access G-Blogs WAP simply by clicking on the G-Blogs link from myGlobe WAP or by creating a bookmark for G-Blogs WAP. The WAP URL of G-Blogs is: www.g-blogs.com
If you already have a G-Blogs account, you will be automatically logged in and therefore create blog entries. If not, you will only be able to view entries and/or post comments.
14. Will I be charged a certain fee for the space I’ll be using?
G-Blog hosting is FREE. You will not be charged for creating a G-Blog site over the Web. You will only be charged when you register through SMS/MMS or when you download/forward/post entries to or from a mobile phone.
15. UPDATED: Does G-Blogs offer me template options for my G-Blog site?
Yes. Initially, G-Blogs has made available a number of pre-designed templates. We will be building templates in the future so you will have wider variety of options to choose from. But if you are already familiar with blogging and you know how to create a site using HTML, we encourage you to further personalize your G-Blog site by adding or editing the pre-designed template that we provided you. We made the HTML code open for you to experiment on.
If you have a design or wish to submit a template, please email and send us a jpeg image at gtmyglobeadmin@globetel.com.ph. We will review your entry and let you know what we think of it.
16. Can we use HTML to further personalize our G-Blogs site?
Unfortunately, no, you can’t. We used to have this feature previously on G-Blogs as we thought doing so would help bloggers further customize the design on their G-Blog sites. However, we later realized that this feature was actually giving more harm than good to the G-Blogs community as it became a major tool for some bloggers to actually abuse the service.
We are still coming up, however, with alternative ways to make our template designs more flexible to the needs of the G-Bloggers, tools that would allow far better personalization features than what HTML support facility can provide.
17. What is the difference between public and private G-Blog site?
A public G-Blog is essentially accessible to EVERYONE. Anyone can read entries of a publicly listed G-Blog and if the visitor is also a G-Blog owner or a logged in user, he/she can even download and forward contents of that site, comment on entries, send private messages, chat with the G-Blog owners, etc.
A private G-Blog site, on the other hand, is exclusively for members of that private G-Blog. To become a member of a private G-Blog, you should receive and accept the invitation from the G-Blog site owner sent via SMS or email. The invitations will appear in the “MEMBERS OF” page.
You may also ask for an invitation from a private G-Blog site owner by clicking on “ASK TO BE A MEMBER OF THIS G-BLOG”. If you become a member of a private G-Blog site, you would have full access to that G-Blog site including downloading, forwarding, viewing entries and comments, as well as sending private messages.
18. How do I join a private G-Blog site?
When you browse through a private G-Blog site, and you are not a member yet, you will see the profile page of the G-Blog owner and other introductory information that tells what his or her G-Blog site is all about. Should you be interested to join or be invited, click on the "ASK TO BE A MEMBER OF THIS G-BLOG” link found in the “About Me” section.. This action will send a request to the G-Blog owner about your intention to be invited to his/her private G-Blog site. Once you’ve been approved by the owner, you will be able to read his/her entries and download his/her content
19. Is there a limit to the number of text entries or pictures I can post in my G-Blog?
There is no limit to the number of text entries but you are only allowed 20MB of disk space for pictures. Below your name and short description you will see a meter that measures the amount of disk space you’ve already consumed. Once you reach your 20 MB limit, you will no longer be allowed to upload any more pictures.
20. Aside from posting entries and pictures, what are the other things I can do in G-Blogs?
You are not only limited to posting journal entries and pictures to your G-Blogs. We have expanded the features of your blog site to more than that so you can enjoy building a community of your friends. Below are the other things you can do in G-Blogs as an owner:
21. How come I am only allowed to upload pictures with a total size of 100k per entry?
We have placed the limit so you and other G-Blog owners can download pictures from the site to the mobile phone. The MMS network is only capable of processing picture sizes up to 100k. More than that, you will be receiving an error and you will not be able to open the picture attachment.
For each entry you post, you can attach up to 3 pictures. The total size of the pictures should not be more than 100k. So if you attach only 1 picture, its size can be up to 100k, but if you have 2 pictures, the sum of the two should not be more than 100k (example, picture A is 95K while picture B is 3K).
22. How do I send or post entries using my Handyphone?
To post text entries send an SMS message to 2815 in this format: POST (TITLE)/(ENTRY).
Example: Post It’s a wonderful day/I had so much fun today.
To post G-Blog entries with pictures, just send an MMS message to 2815 using this format: (TITLE)/(ENTRY). Example: It’s a wonderful day/I had so much fun today The system automatically recognizes your Handyphone as the sender and matches it with your registered Handyphone and G-Blog site.
23. What are the functionalities and keywords for SMS?
The basic SMS functionalities are: sending of an invitation, posting of entries through SMS and MMS,, downloading and forwarding of entries, subscribing and unsubscribing to SMS alerts whenever a comment is made to any of your entries, and help instructions.
24. What are the regular SMS notifications?
This feature is available to G-Blog owners only. G-Blog owners can subscribe or unsubscribe to regular SMS notifications to their mobile phones. SMS notifications are sent whenever a new comment is posted to your G-Blog site.
25. How much does posting and downloading of content cost?
Posting text entries through SMS costs PhP 2.50, while text entries with pictures sent through MMS costs PhP 5.00. Posting text and photo entries over the web is FREE though. Images from the computer can be attached directly to a journal entry.
Downloading of content whether from the phone or from the Web/WAP site costs P5.00.
26. I’m not a myGlobe member, can I still download entries from G-Blogs?
Yes, you can for as long as you know the G-Blog ID# of the entry you want to download. You can find the ID#s at the end of each G-Blog entry, usually inside a box. Just send an SMS to 2815 in this format: GET (G-Blog ID#) or FWD (G-BLOG ID#) (HANDYPHONE NO) if you wish to forward a G-Blog entry to a friend. You will be charged P5.00 for each request and the recipient will receive the message as an MMS.
If you are mobile and you don’t have access to the internet or computer, you can still inquire about the G-Blog ID#s. Just text INQ (G-Blog URL) and send to 2815. The G-Blog URL is the word or phrase next to http://g-blogs.com. Example, in http://g-blogs.com/myGlobe, myGlobe is the G-Blog URL. If you want to get the G-Blog ID#s for myGlobe, the SMS format will be INQ myGlobe.
If you don’t know the exact G-Blog URL of a particular user, you can search for it. Just send Search (HP Number) or (Blog Name or Keyword). Example, Search 09171234567.
Just to summarize the steps for downloading G-Blog entries through SMS for non-myGlobe members:
27. What are the terms of use?
Basically, G-Blogs is intended to be a service for decent and healthy venue for self-expression and interaction. All inflammatory, obscene or lascivious content posted by either the G-Blogger, visitors, and members, will not be tolerated and shall be deleted from the site right away. The G-Blog site of the user or person responsible for such act shall be erased or blocked from using the G-Blog service or related myGlobe services.
An administrator will be monitoring and cleaning G-Blogs of such offensive content. Additionally, G-Blogs will perform security measures as applicable. For complete terms and conditions visit the G-Blogs Terms and Conditions page.
28. How do I report a G-Blogger?

You may also email gtmyglobeadmin@globetel.com.ph directly and express your complaint in the most detailed manner. All personal information and other details that you submitted will be treated with utmost confidentiality and shall be known only to the G-Blogs administrator. 30. What is content syndication? How do I use it?
Blog owners use content syndication to easily and seamlessly update multiple websites or blog pages by updating only one site or blog page. This means that any revisions uploaded in a single site will automatically reflect in the other sites or pages.
If you happen to manage multiple blog sites or pages where you want your blog entries to be reflected, e.g. other blog sites, online newsletters, etc., you can use Atom so you don’t have to update one by one.
Go to “Edit Profile” page by clicking on the link found at the left sidebar of your page. Look for the content syndication button, then tick off or fill in the information as requested. Click on “Save” button to update Atom component for your G-Blog.
31. Aside from text and images, can I upload other types of files in my G-Blog?
Yes. You can now upload audio and video contents from your mobile phone or PC into your G-Blog.
32. Is there a limit to the file size we can upload?
Yes. You can only upload up to 100KB in size per file, may that be image, audio or video file. In case you exceed the 100KB file size limit, the file that you uploaded will not be saved successfully.
33. How do I send or post videos and audios from my mobile phone?
Just send a regular MMS message and attach the video or audio, then send to 2815. The system automatically recognizes your Handyphone as the sender and matches it with your registered Handyphone and G-Blog site.
34. How much does it cost if I upload a video or audio content from my Handyphone to my G-Blog?
Videos and audios are considered MMS message and will implement the same rate for MMS that is PhP 5.00.
35. I want to know how many people have visited my page. Does G-Blogs provide such functionality?
Yes. Just enable the “Hits counter” functionality. It can be found in your “Edit Profile” page. Tick off the “Hits counter” field and save the settings to update.
36. Other blog sites offer poll functionalities. Does G-Blogs also offer the same?
Yes. You can now post and edit poll questions and answers in your own G-Blog page. You and your visitors can also display the results whenever you want.
37. How can my visitors know if I’m online?
You can enable the “I’m online” functionality each time you log in. The “I’m online” status will display for your visitors to see. But you can also opt for “Invisible/Stealth” status if you don’t want others to know you are online.
38. I’ve heard that you will be implementing new charging rates on G-Blogs. What exactly are these new rates and how will they be implemented?
Yes, we will be implementing a new charging scheme for G-Blogs, though the changes will be implemented particularly on G-Blogs WAP.
Effective May 26, browsing on G-Blogs WAP will be charged at a special rate of P0.10/KB, but only for the following activities:

After logging in, you will first be lead to your Groups page. By default, if you haven’t chosen a G-Blog group yet, you are part of the “Others” Group.
To choose a group, go to your G-Blog Personal Page by clicking on the “Go to your G-Blog” button found in the Groups page (on the upper left portion). Inside your personal blog page, look for “My G-Blogs Admin” section then click on “Edit Profile” link to go to the profile page. On the Edit Profile page is a form with a set of fields you need to fill out to customize your profile – look for the G-Blogs Groups field then select a group from the drop down menu box.
NOTE: Make sure that all required fields are filled out; otherwise, an error may occur.
Finally, click on “Save” button to successfully join a group. To check your new group, click on “My Group” link in the left navigation bar or click on “Group Home” from the G-Blogs header.
40. How do I make my existing entries searchable?
To make your entries searchable, you need to assign “tags” for it. Tags are actually keywords that other G-Blogs users may use to look for your blog entries via G-Blogs Search. Note that only tagged blog entries will be searchable across G-Blogs, so do assign a tag for your blog entries if you want other bloggers to be able to find them easily.
To tag an existing G-Blogs entry, click on “Edit” link. From the Edit Entry page, scroll down and look for fields with “Tag” label (e.g. Tag1, Tag2 and Tag3). Click on the “Save” button to successfully tag your entry.
41. Where can I assign tags for my entry?
To assign tags for your G-Blog entry, click on “Post Entry” link. In the “Post Entry” page, enter the title and content of your entry and/or attach multimedia (audio, video and photo) files. Scroll down to the bottom of the form then enter your desired tags for your entry. You are only allowed to assign three (3) tags for your G-Blog entry. Click on “Save” button.
Note: Only the words that were entered in the tag fields are searchable.
